Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup Nutella The star of the show! Replace with any chocolate-hazelnut spread if unavailable.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Provides structure; gluten-free flour can be used if needed.
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour Additional flour for the mixture.
  • 1 tsp baking powder Helps cookies rise; baking soda can be used in a pinch.
  • 1 large egg Binds everything together; a flax egg can be used as a vegan alternative.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. In a medium bowl, sift together 1/2 cup + 1 tablespoon of all-purpose flour with 1 teaspoon of baking powder.
  4. In another bowl, beat the large egg lightly and whisk in 1 cup of Nutella until combined.
  5. Gradually incorporate the dry ingredients into the Nutella mixture using a spatula.
  6. Drop dollops of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, flattening each slightly.
Baking
  1. Bake for 9-10 minutes, watching closely for a barely set center.
  2. Allow cookies to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Use a cookie scoop for evenly sized cookies. If you like nuts, consider adding chopped hazelnuts for extra crunch. Allow the Nutella to sit at room temperature if it’s too thick for easier mixing.
