Preparation
- Rinse and dry the asparagus spears. Take one spear and hold it with both hands. Bend until it snaps; this is the spot to trim the remaining spears.
- In three shallow dishes, place 1/2 cup of flour, the beaten egg, and a mixture of panko and seasoned breadcrumbs.
Breading and Cooking
- Dredge each asparagus spear in flour, dip into the egg, and then coat with the breadcrumb mixture, gently shaking off the excess. Lay the prepared spears on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper.
- Lightly spray the breaded asparagus with cooking spray. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F.
- Place a single layer of prepared asparagus in the air fryer basket and air fry for 7 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
- Carefully remove the air-fried spears with tongs and continue air frying the remaining asparagus until all are cooked.
- Serve with your favorite dipping sauce, and watch them disappear!
Notes
Serve as a side dish, appetizer, or standalone snack. If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. Reheat in the air fryer for a few minutes. You can freeze the breaded asparagus before cooking for future use.
