  • 4 cups bread cubes (any type of stale bread) Stale bread works best for texture.
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil Essential for crisping without unhealthy fats.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Can substitute with fresh garlic for a bolder taste.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Fresh chopped onions can be used.
  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper Adjust to taste.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cube the bread into bite-sized pieces for even cooking.
  2. Toss the bread cubes in a bowl with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and dried herbs if using.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Place the seasoned bread cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
  3. Air fry for 5-8 minutes or until golden brown, shaking the basket halfway through.
  4. Let the croutons cool before serving to firm up and maintain crunch.

Notes

Avoid using bread straight from the bag; stale bread yields the best results. For enhanced flavor, marinate bread in seasoning for 30 minutes beforehand. Store in an airtight container for up to a week, or freeze for up to three months.
