Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk the 3 large eggs, 2-3 tablespoons of milk, 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt until well combined.
- Add 6 ounces of bread cubes to the mixture. Use tongs or a rubber spatula to mix well until the bread has soaked up the egg mixture completely.
- Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of cinnamon over the bread cubes as you stir to evenly disperse the cinnamon throughout.
- Allow the bread to sit for an additional 2-3 minutes if the mixture pools at the bottom of the bowl, giving those bites an even richer flavor.
- Generously wipe your air fryer basket with avocado oil or line it with air fryer-safe parchment paper.
Cooking
- Place the soaked bread cubes into the air fryer in a single layer, ensuring they don’t touch.
- Air fry at 350°F for 7-10 minutes, checking and shaking the basket halfway. Cook until they are golden brown and crispy.
Serving
- Serve immediately with your choice of powdered sugar, maple syrup, and strawberries, if desired.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, and you can quickly reheat them in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes. For added flavor, you can try a splash of vanilla extract in the egg mixture. Consider using brioche or challah for an even richer taste.
