Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 3 large large eggs The backbone of your French toast mixture; large eggs yield the best consistency.
  • 2-3 tablespoons milk of choice Any milk will do. Almond milk or oat milk can be great dairy-free options.
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup For sweetness; honey or agave syrup can be suitable substitutes.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt A pinch enhances the flavors.
  • 6 ounces hearty white bread Sourdough or day-old French bread works best, giving it that comforting texture.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon This spice adds warmth and cozy notes to your bites.
  • as needed Avocado oil or parchment paper Use either to prevent sticking in the air fryer.
Toppings (optional)
  • Powdered sugar, maple syrup, strawberries Highly recommended toppings.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk the 3 large eggs, 2-3 tablespoons of milk, 1 tablespoon of maple syrup, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt until well combined.
  2. Add 6 ounces of bread cubes to the mixture. Use tongs or a rubber spatula to mix well until the bread has soaked up the egg mixture completely.
  3. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of cinnamon over the bread cubes as you stir to evenly disperse the cinnamon throughout.
  4. Allow the bread to sit for an additional 2-3 minutes if the mixture pools at the bottom of the bowl, giving those bites an even richer flavor.
  5. Generously wipe your air fryer basket with avocado oil or line it with air fryer-safe parchment paper.
Cooking
  1. Place the soaked bread cubes into the air fryer in a single layer, ensuring they don’t touch.
  2. Air fry at 350°F for 7-10 minutes, checking and shaking the basket halfway. Cook until they are golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately with your choice of powdered sugar, maple syrup, and strawberries, if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, and you can quickly reheat them in the air fryer at 350°F for 3-4 minutes. For added flavor, you can try a splash of vanilla extract in the egg mixture. Consider using brioche or challah for an even richer taste.
