Preparation
- Let 2 tablespoons unsalted butter sit at room temperature until softened.
- Heat an air fryer to 375 degrees F.
- Grate the sharp cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, and toss together in a medium bowl.
- Assemble the sandwiches by buttering one side of each slice of bread.
- Place cheese on the non-buttered side of 2 slices and close with the butter-side-up slices.
Cooking
- Place sandwiches in the air fryer and air fry for 3 minutes.
- Flip and cook until the top is golden brown for an additional 3 to 4 minutes.
- If needed, flip again and cook for 1 to 2 minutes more until golden.
Notes
Serve with a side of tomato soup or a fresh salad. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days, and you can freeze individual sandwiches for up to one month.
