Onion Rings
  • 2 large large onions Sweet or yellow onions work best for sweetness.
Coatings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Acts as the first coating to help the egg wash adhere.
  • 1.5 teaspoons paprika Adjust for your spice preference.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Can be substituted with onion powder.
  • to taste none salt and pepper Always important to season layers for maximum flavor.
  • 2 large large eggs The binder that holds the breadcrumbs to the onion rings.
  • 1 tablespoon milk Can be replaced with a non-dairy alternative.
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs Regular breadcrumbs are fine, but panko yields the best texture.
  • to taste none cooking spray Lightly coating for a crispy finish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Peel the onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings, separating the rings carefully.
  2. In one bowl, whisk together the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs with the milk.
  4. Place the panko breadcrumbs in a third bowl for final coating.
Coating the Rings
  1. Coat each onion ring in the flour mixture, dip it into the egg wash, then coat it with panko breadcrumbs.
Cooking
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 392°F (200°C).
  2. Arrange the onion rings in a single layer in the air fryer basket and spray lightly with cooking spray.
  3. Air fry for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown and crispy.
Serving
  1. Serve immediately with dipping sauces like ketchup, ranch dressing, or others.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days or freeze for longer storage. Reheat in air fryer for crispiness.
