  1. Add ingredients to slow cooker. Combine all ingredients in the slow cooker and stir thoroughly.
  2. Cook uncovered. Set the slow cooker to high and let it cook for about 7 hours, stirring the mixture every 2 hours.
  3. Thicken if desired. If you prefer a thicker consistency, continue cooking for an additional 30 minutes.
  4. Cool down. Transfer the hot apple butter into a shallow glass casserole dish and let it cool on the counter for one hour.
  5. Chill. After stirring, place it in the freezer for 30 minutes to cool completely.
  6. Store properly. Once cooled, transfer the apple butter into an airtight container and keep it chilled until ready to use.

Notes

Use high-quality, unsweetened applesauce for the best results. Consider adding vanilla extract or a splash of apple cider for enhanced flavor. Monitor cooking times and stir regularly to prevent burning.
