Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb beef (sliced thinly) Choose flank steak or sirloin for the best tenderness.
  • 2 cups broccoli florets Fresh broccoli will give the best crunch; however, frozen can be used in a pinch.
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce Opt for low-sodium soy sauce if you’re watching your salt intake.
  • 2 tablespoons oyster sauce Adds depth of flavor—feel free to substitute with hoisin sauce if you have it on hand.
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch This helps to thicken the sauce; you can also use arrowroot powder for a gluten-free option.
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil For stir-frying, canola or peanut oil works well too.
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced) Fresh garlic lends a beautiful aroma; garlic powder can be used in emergencies.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust according to your preference.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt and pepper to create a flavorful mixture.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat until hot.
Cooking
  1. Add the beef to the skillet and stir-fry until browned, about 3-4 minutes, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan.
  2. Once the beef is browned, add the minced garlic and stir for another minute until fragrant.
  3. Add the broccoli florets to the skillet and stir-fry for 3-5 minutes until tender but still crisp.
  4. Pour the sauce over the beef and broccoli, stirring to combine. Cook for an additional 2 minutes, then serve immediately.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate the beef in the soy sauce and cornstarch for 15 minutes before cooking. Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas for variety. Serve over brown rice or quinoa for a complete meal.
