For the potato topping
  • 3 large potatoes, peeled and cubed For a crispy topping.
  • 2 tablespoons butter Adds richness.

Preparation
  1. Dice the onions and carrots finely and set them aside.
Cooking the Beef Filling
  1. In a skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat until fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic, diced onions, and carrots, cooking until softened.
  3. Pour in vegetable broth and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
  4. Add fresh or frozen peas, stirring until well combined and heated through.
  5. Sprinkle in your choice of seasoning and mix thoroughly.
Preparing the Potato Topping
  1. While the filling cools, peel and cut the potatoes into chunks, then boil until fork-tender.
  2. Drain the potatoes and mash them with butter until creamy and smooth.
Assembling and Baking
  1. Spread the beef filling evenly in a baking dish, then top with the mashed potatoes.
  2. Sprinkle shredded cheese over the mashed potato topping.
  3. Place in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for about 25-30 minutes, or until the potatoes are golden brown.
  4. Let it cool for a few minutes, then scoop and enjoy.

Notes

For maximum flavor, brown the beef properly; consider using frozen mashed potatoes for quicker prep. Broil for extra crispiness. Allow pie to cool for easier slicing.
