Ingredients

For the Crisp
  • 4 cups peaches, sliced Ripe, juicy peaches work best; Georgia peaches are particularly delightful.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Can substitute with coconut sugar for a healthier option.
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Whole grain flour can be used as a substitute.
  • 1 cup rolled oats Quick oats are acceptable but may not provide the same texture.
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped Walnuts can be used as an alternative.
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted Coconut oil may be used as a dairy-free alternative.
  • 1/4 cup bourbon Vanilla extract can be used as a non-alcoholic option.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon Nutmeg can be added for depth of flavor.
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg Optional, unless you prefer it omitted.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt Essential for balancing sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Can be substituted with apple cider vinegar if necessary.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

  3. In another bowl, mix rolled oats, flour, remaining brown sugar, and chopped pecans.
  4. Stir in melted butter and bourbon until all ingredients are coated.
Baking
  1. In a baking dish, layer the peach mixture and top it with the oat mixture.
  2. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the topping is golden and the peaches are bubbly.
Serving
  1. Serve warm, preferably with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Let the crisp cool slightly to allow the juices to set. For optimal flavor, use seasonal fruits.
