Preparation
- Start by boiling water and letting it cool slightly until it’s hot but not boiling, ideally around 175°F (80°C).
- In a bowl, sift 1 tsp of ceremonial matcha powder to remove any clumps, ensuring a smooth and creamy texture.
- Pour ¼ cup of the hot water over the sifted matcha powder.
Cooking/Assembling
- Using a whisk or a milk frother, whisk the matcha and water together in a zigzag pattern until completely dissolved and frothy.
- While the matcha brews, fill a tall glass with ice.
- Pour 1 cup of milk over the ice, leaving room for the matcha mixture.
Serving
- Slowly pour the whisked matcha over the milk in your glass to create a beautiful layer.
- Add your desired amount of sweetener, stirring gently to combine flavors.
- Serve immediately with a straw or a spoon to mix, and enjoy this refreshing beverage!
Notes
Store leftover matcha in an airtight container in a cool, dark place to maintain freshness. Can prepare matcha mixture in advance and store in the fridge for up to two days.
