Ingredients

For the Marinade
  • 1 cup Soy Sauce Can substitute with tamari for gluten-free.
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar Can substitute with honey or maple syrup.
  • 2 tablespoons Sesame Oil Adds a nutty aroma; can substitute with olive oil in a pinch.
Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound Ground Beef Can substitute with ground chicken or tofu.
  • 4 cups Cooked Rice Leftover rice works best, especially if slightly dry.
  • 1 bunch Green Onions Can substitute with chives if needed.
  • 2 cups Vegetables of Choice Bell peppers, carrots, peas, or bok choy are great options.

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare the marinade by mixing soy sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil in a bowl. Add ground beef, mixing until well coated.
Cooking
  1. In a large pan over medium heat, cook the beef until browned; remove it from the pan and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, add more oil if needed and stir-fry your vegetables until tender.
  3. Incorporate the cold rice into the pan, breaking any clumps. Stir-fry until heated through.
  4. Return the beef to the pan, adding the green onions and stir-frying just until combined.

Notes

Serve with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and fresh cilantro, alongside kimchi for an authentic experience. Avoid using freshly cooked rice to prevent a gummy texture, and ensure to let leftovers cool fully before storing.
