  • 4 cups mashed potatoes Use frozen mashed potatoes in a pinch.
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese Try pepper jack for a spicy kick.
  • 1 medium onion, diced Shallots can work as a milder alternative.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Garlic powder can be used as an alternative.
  • 2 tablespoons butter Olive oil can be used for a healthier option.
  • 1/2 cup milk Any non-dairy milk will work too.
  • to taste salt and pepper Season according to personal preference.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic over medium heat until the beef is browned. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a baking dish, layer the cooked ground beef, followed by the mashed potatoes.
  4. Spread the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the top of the potatoes.
  5. Drizzle melted butter over the cheese.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Serve this dish hot from the oven for maximum deliciousness. Can add sautéed vegetables between layers for added nutrients.
