Ingredients

  • 4 cups Fresh or frozen cherries Pitted
  • 1 cup Sugar Adjust according to cherry sweetness
  • 1/4 cup Cornstarch Thickens the filling
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice Adds acidity
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract For flavor enhancement

Preparation
  1. Rinse the cherries under cool water and drain them.
  2. If using fresh cherries, remove the stems and pits.
  3. In a bowl, combine the cherries with sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, and vanilla extract.
Cooking
  1. Transfer the cherry mixture to a saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Cook while stirring occasionally until the mixture starts to bubble.
