Ingredients
  

For the chicken poppers
  • 1.5 pounds chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces Opt for skinless, boneless breasts for a lean protein source.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Gluten-free flour can be used as an alternative.
  • 0.25 cup powdered sugar Can be omitted if preferred.
  • 2 tablespoons mustard You can use Dijon for more spice.
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder Fresh minced garlic can be used instead.
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar Apple cider vinegar adds a nice touch.
  • 2 tablespoons honey Maple syrup can be used as an alternative.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Smoked paprika offers extra smokiness.
For the dipping sauce
  • 0.5 cup mayonnaise Greek yogurt can be used for a lighter option.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F (193°C) to ensure even cooking.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, mustard, garlic powder, vinegar, and honey. Refrigerate until ready for serving.
  3. In a large Ziploc bag, combine the flour, powdered sugar, salt, paprika, and pepper.
  4. Add the chicken pieces to the bag, seal it, and shake until coated.
Cooking
  1. Remove the chicken from the bag, shaking off any excess flour, and spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray.
  2. Place the chicken in a single layer in the air fryer and spritz the tops with cooking spray.
  3. Air fry for 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
Serving
  1. Serve hot with the prepared mayo/mustard sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For an extra crunch, lightly dust the chicken with more flour just before cooking. These poppers can be served with various dipping sauces like BBQ or sriracha mayo.
