Preparation
  1. Soften the cream cheese at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, beat cream cheese, whipped topping, and cake mix on medium-high speed for about 2 minutes until smooth and fluffy. Start on low to avoid cake mix poofing.
  3. Pour in the hot fudge topping and heavy whipping cream, then beat for another minute until well combined.
  4. If using, gently fold in mini chocolate chips to incorporate them into the dip.
  5. Serve immediately or refrigerate in an air-tight container for future enjoyment.

Notes

For a richer flavor, warm the hot fudge topping slightly before mixing. Serve in a charming bowl surrounded by assorted fresh fruit. Store in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to three months.
