Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until fully combined.
- In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter and granulated sugar together on medium speed for about 1-2 minutes until light and fluffy.
- Mix in the room temperature egg and vanilla extract until well incorporated.
- Gradually stir the dry mixture into the wet ingredients, mixing just until everything is combined.
- Gently incorporate the semi-sweet chocolate chips into the dough.
- Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to portion out dough balls and place them onto a baking sheet, ensuring they are 2 inches apart.
- Optionally sprinkle mini chocolate chips on top for added decoration.
Baking
- Place the baking sheet on the middle rack and bake until the edges begin to tan, about 9-13 minutes.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. You can freeze the dough for later use, wrapping individual portions and baking directly from frozen.
