  • 2 pieces Navel oranges Peeled and diced; can swap with blood oranges.
  • 2 large avocados Pitted, peeled, and diced; alternatively use three smaller avocados.
  • ½ cup chopped red onions Can replace with green onions for milder taste.
  • ½ cup chopped cilantro Substitute with parsley if not a fan.
  • ½ cup chopped fresh mint Basil is a nice substitute.
  • ½ cup walnuts Chopped; can use pine nuts or almonds.
  • 1 pinch salt Adjust to taste.
  • 1 pinch pepper Adjust to taste.
  • ¾ teaspoon sumac Can substitute with lemon zest.
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper Adjust based on spice tolerance.
  • 1 piece lime Juiced; lemon juice can be substituted.
  • 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil Can replace with avocado oil.
  • 1 to 2 tablespoons crumbled feta cheese Can omit for a dairy-free version.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, combine the oranges, avocados, red onions, fresh herbs, and walnuts.
  2. Season the mixture with salt, pepper, sumac, and a pinch of cayenne.
  3. Add the lime juice and a generous drizzle of olive oil, tossing gently to combine.
  4. Top with a sprinkle of crumbled feta cheese.

Notes

For best flavor, let the salsa rest for at least 30 minutes before serving. Serve with healthy chips, veggie sticks, or as a topping for grilled chicken.
