Ingredients

For the Sauce
  • 3/4 cup sour cream Provides a creamy base; Greek yogurt works as a great substitute.

  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest Brings brightness; lime zest can be an alternative if unavailable.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice Enhances flavors; substitute with white vinegar for tanginess.
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder For an underlying warmth; minced fresh garlic works well too.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Key for elevating flavor; experiment with smoked salt for a unique touch.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, combine all of the sauce ingredients, stir well, then taste.
  2. Stir in a pinch of salt and pepper, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
  3. Taste again, adjusting with more salt and pepper if needed, and serve.
  4. Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

Notes

Allow the sauce to sit in the fridge for deep flavor development. Fresh herbs make a noticeable difference in taste. Can also be used in pasta dishes or as a dip.
