Preparation and Cooking
- Add the habaneros, onion, garlic, and oil to a small pot or saucepan.
- Cover and simmer over medium-low heat for about 15 minutes or until the peppers and onions soften.
- Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then transfer everything to a food processor.
- Add the salt, process on high for 4-5 minutes, until smooth and clinging to the processor sides.
- If too thick, drizzle in more oil, or add water/lime juice a tablespoon at a time to achieve your desired consistency.
- Adjust salt to taste and enjoy.
Notes
For extra tang, add a squeeze of lime juice. Let it rest in the fridge for an hour to meld the flavors even better. Store in an airtight container; lasts about 1 week in the fridge or can be frozen for up to 3 months.
