Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 16 ounces unsalted dry roasted peanuts Adds that rich peanut flavor; for nut allergies, try sunflower seeds.
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine salt Helps enhance the flavors; adjust or omit based on preference.
  • 2 to 3 teaspoons honey or maple syrup Brings sweetness; skip for unsweetened versions.
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon Adds warmth; use nutmeg for a different aromatic profile.

Method

Preparation
  1. Add the peanuts to a food processor and blend for about 10 minutes until smooth, scraping down the sides as necessary.
  2. Once creamy, add salt and any optional sweeteners or cinnamon, blending for an additional 30 seconds.
  3. Allow the peanut butter to cool to room temperature before transferring to a mason jar.
Storage
  1. Store in the refrigerator, where it will last up to one month.
  2. For crunchy peanut butter, set aside 3/4 cup of peanuts, blend the rest, then mix in the reserved peanuts.

Notes

Homemade peanut butter is free from preservatives and artificial additives. It may separate, so a quick stir before use will fix that. Can be frozen in an airtight container.
