Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 14 ounces Firm Tofu Key ingredient for excellent texture; silken tofu won’t hold up.
  • 1/4 cup Honey Adds sweetness and a beautiful glaze; maple syrup or agave can be used for a vegan option.
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced Infuses the dish with aromatic flavor; feel free to use garlic powder in a pinch.
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce Brings depth and saltiness; tamari can be a gluten-free alternative.
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch Coats the tofu for that perfect crisp; arrowroot powder works as a substitute.
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable Oil Used for frying; any high smoke point oil like canola or peanut oil works well.
  • to taste Salt and Pepper Essential seasonings to enhance flavors; use low-sodium soy sauce if preferred.
  • 2 tablespoons Chopped Green Onions For garnish; adds color and freshness; you can skip if you’re in a rush.

Method

Preparation
  1. Press the tofu to remove excess water, then cut it into cubes.
  2. In a bowl, mix honey, minced garlic, soy sauce, salt, and pepper.
  3. Toss the tofu cubes in cornstarch until well coated.
Cooking
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the tofu and fry until golden and crispy on all sides.
  3. Pour the honey garlic sauce over the tofu in the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce is sticky and coats the tofu.
Serving
  1. Serve warm, garnished with chopped green onions.

Notes

Avoid not pressing the tofu well to achieve desired crispiness. Cooking at too high a temperature may burn the sauce. Avoid overcrowding the pan to prevent soggy tofu.
