Preparation
- In a bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with fresh dill, salt, and pepper, mixing until well blended and creamy.
- Generously spread the cream cheese mixture evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
- Place cucumber slices in a single layer on half of the bread slices.
- Top the cucumber-covered slices with the remaining bread slices, cream cheese side down and press gently.
- If desired, spread a thin layer of butter on the outside of the sandwiches.
- Cut off the crusts of the sandwiches using a sharp knife.
- Slice the sandwiches into quarters or triangles for presentation.
- Serve immediately or cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.
Notes
Cucumber sandwiches are best served on a beautiful platter and can be garnished with extra dill or cracked pepper. They pair well with herbal teas, sparkling water, or light wines.
