  • 1 medium cucumber, grated Choose a finely grated cucumber for the best consistency.
  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced Adjust based on your taste preference; more garlic for a stronger flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped Fresh herbs enhance the taste significantly, but dry dill can work in a pinch.
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice Freshly squeezed lemon juice is ideal for a bright flavor.
  • to taste Salt Use kosher or sea salt for a cleaner flavor.
  • to taste Pepper Freshly cracked black pepper adds a delightful touch to the tzatziki.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the grated cucumber and a pinch of salt. Let it sit for 10 minutes to draw out excess moisture, then drain.
  2. In another bowl, mix the yogurt, minced garlic, chopped dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper to form the creamy base.
  3. Add the drained cucumber to the yogurt mixture and stir until well combined.
  4. Taste the mixture and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  5. Serve chilled as a dip or sauce.

Notes

For optimal flavor, consume within a few days. Avoid freezing if possible, as it may alter the texture.
