  • 1/4 cup Low-Sodium Soy Sauce Tamari can be used for gluten-free option.
  • 2 tbsp Brown Sugar Can use honey or maple syrup for a healthier alternative.
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil Can be replaced with olive oil.
  • 1 tbsp Rice Vinegar Apple cider vinegar works as a substitute.
  • 1 inch Fresh Ginger Preferably fresh; ground ginger can work in a pinch.
  • 3 cloves Garlic Increase for extra flavor.
Garnishes
  • 2 stalks Green Onions For garnish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Slice the beef flank steak into thin strips against the grain.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, rice vinegar, and sesame oil to make the teriyaki sauce.
Cooking
  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and sear for about 2 minutes, until browned.
  2. Pour the teriyaki sauce over the beef and stir continuously until coated and bubbling for about 3 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions.
Serving
  1. Serve over steamed rice or noodles.

Notes

Get creative with the recipe by adding veggies like broccoli or bell peppers. Marinate the beef for deeper flavor, and prepare extra sauce if desired.
