Ingredients

Danish Base
  • 2 cans ready-to-use refrigerated crescent rolls Make sure they’re not expired for the best taste.
Cream Cheese Filling
  • 2 packages cream cheese (softened) Opt for reduced-fat cream cheese for a lighter version.
  • 1 cup sugar Can use agave or honey for a different flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Pure vanilla extract is preferred.
  • 1 item egg Can substitute with a flax egg for a vegan option.
Danish Glaze
  • 1 egg white egg white Provides a glossy finish; can skip for egg-free version.
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar Make your own by blending granulated sugar.
  • 2 tablespoons milk Nut milk works as an alternative.
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract For added flavor in the glaze.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 13×9-inch baking pan.
  2. Open one can of crescent rolls, lay it flat in the greased pan, and pinch the seams together to create a solid dough base.
  3. In a medium bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, sugar, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth and creamy.
  4. Evenly spread the cream cheese filling over the base layer of crescent rolls, covering every edge.
  5. Open the second can of crescent rolls and layer it over the cream cheese filling. Pinch the seams together to seal the filling.
  6. Lightly beat the egg white and brush it over the top layer of dough for a shiny finish.
Baking
  1. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the filling is set.
  2. Let it cool for about 20 minutes. Prepare the glaze by mixing powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  3. Drizzle the glaze over the cooled Danish before slicing and serving.

Notes

Always keep crescent rolls and cream cheese stocked. For a fruity twist, incorporate berries into the cream cheese mixture. Allow the Danish to cool before glazing. Store leftovers in an airtight container.
