Ingredients
  

  • 125 g dark chocolate chips
  • 100 g butter
  • 1 1/4 cups white sugar
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 250 g dark chocolate chips (for ganache)

Equipment

  • Springform pan 9-inch
  • Mixing bowl for batter
  • Wooden spoon for mixing

Method
 

  1. Melt butter and chocolate in microwave, stir until smooth.
  2. Mix in oil, vanilla, and sugar. Add eggs and stir.
  3. Sift in cocoa, flour, baking powder. Add boiling water, mix smooth.
  4. Pour into tin and bake 1 hour at 300°F.
  5. Cool fully, spread ganache over top and sides.

Notes

Use good-quality chocolate for best results. This cake is forgiving and freezes well.
