Preparation
  1. Slice apples into evenly sized cubes, about 1/2 to 1 inch.
  2. Place apple pieces into a skillet and add water.

Cooking
  1. Stir in butter to the skillet, coating all apple pieces thoroughly.
  2. Cook for an additional 5 minutes, stirring every minute until the apples are soft.
  3. Stir in maple syrup, cinnamon, salt, and vanilla until well mixed.
  4. Cook for about 5 more minutes, stirring every minute until the apples reach your desired softness.
Serving
