Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 6 Tablespoons Salted Butter Use unsalted if preferred.
  • 1/3 cup Dark Brown Sugar Light brown sugar works too.
  • 3 Tablespoons Sugar Coconut sugar can be a healthy alternative.
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract Homemade vanilla extract will elevate the flavor.
  • 1 Tablespoon Milk Any kind of milk or plant-based milk works.
  • 3/4 cup Flour (heat-treated) Ensure it’s safe to eat; alternatives like almond flour can work.
  • 1/3 cup Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips Mix in dark or milk chocolate chips for variety.
  • 1/8 teaspoon Salt (optional) Omit if using salted butter.

Method

Preparation
  1. Melt the butter either by browning it in a saucepan over medium-low heat or by using a microwave-safe bowl at 50% power. Aim for a rich, golden hue without burning, and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes.
  2. Whisk in both sugars while the butter is still warm to create a glossy mixture.
  3. Heat-treat the flour by spreading it out on a baking sheet and baking at 350°F for about 5 minutes, or microwave for 1 minute, stirring halfway through.
  4. Once the butter-sugar mixture has cooled slightly, mix in the vanilla extract and milk until smooth.
  5. Carefully fold in the heat-treated flour until just combined, and if using unsalted butter, add the optional salt.
  6. Make sure the dough isn't too warm before adding the chocolate chips.
Serving
  1. Enjoy immediately or refrigerate the dough for 5-10 minutes to allow it to set.
