Pastry Ingredients
  • 1 sheet puff pastry Use high-quality, store-bought puff pastry; homemade is great but more time-consuming.
  • 1 can apple pie filling You can make your own filling using fresh apples if you prefer.
  • 1 large egg Provides a glossy finish; you can substitute with milk for a vegan option.
  • 1 tablespoon water Mimics the texture of the egg wash; can be omitted if using an egg wash.
  • to taste raw sugar Adds a delightful crunch to the exterior; can be replaced with regular granulated sugar.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Lay the thawed puff pastry on a lightly floured surface.
  3. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of apple pie filling into the center of each pastry square.
  4. Fold each square diagonally to form triangles and seal the edges with a fork.
  5. Whisk the egg and water in a small bowl, then brush over each croissant.
  6. Sprinkle raw sugar on top.
Baking
  1. Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and puffed up.
  2. Allow croissants to cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm with a drizzle of caramel or a dusting of powdered sugar. For added flavor, consider adding a pinch of cinnamon to your apple pie filling.
