Ingredients

For the base
  • 1 loaf French Bread Use fresh for best results.
  • 6 tablespoons butter Melted before use.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder For flavoring the bread.
For the toppings
  • 1 cup pizza sauce Use more to taste.
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni Or use turkey pepperoni for a lighter option.
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese Shredded for best melting.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all your ingredients and preheat your oven to 400-degrees.
  2. In a small bowl, melt the butter and mix in the garlic powder.
  3. Slice French bread lengthwise and brush the garlic butter mixture onto the bread generously.
  4. Place the French bread on a large baking sheet, open-side up, and bake for 5-8 minutes until the bread is golden brown.
  5. Remove the bread from the oven and reduce the heat to 350-degrees.
Assembly
  1. Layer half the pepperoni on the bread.
  2. Spread pizza sauce evenly over the pepperoni.
  3. Add cheese and the remaining pepperoni on top.
Cooking
  1. Bake for another 8-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  2. Garnish with fresh parsley or oregano, if desired. Cut into slices and serve immediately.

Notes

You can substitute turkey pepperoni for a lighter option or add fresh veggies for added nutrition. Common mistakes to avoid include skipping pre-baking the bread to prevent sogginess and overloading on pizza sauce, which can make the bread too wet.
