Preparation
- Peel and slice the onions into thin rings.
- Mince the garlic cloves and set aside.
- Prepare your workspace and have your buns ready for toasting.
Cooking
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and sauté for about 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until soft and golden brown.
- Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for another minute until fragrant.
- Add the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks. Season with salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and thyme.
- Cook for about 8-10 minutes until the beef is thoroughly cooked.
- Reduce heat to low, add the Swiss cheese slices on top, and cover for 2 minutes to melt.
Serving
- While the cheese melts, toast the hamburger buns until golden.
- Once the cheese is melted, taste the mixture and adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Serve the beef mixture on the toasted buns and enjoy immediately.
Notes
For the best results, toast buns lightly to prevent sogginess. Leftovers can be stored for up to three days in airtight containers.
