  • 1 cup sour cream Adds creaminess and a tangy flavor.
  • 1 can (10.5-ounce) condensed cream of chicken soup Helps bind the casserole and adds richness.
  • 1 can (10.5-ounce) French onion soup Infuses classic French onion flavor throughout.
  • 1.25 cups shredded Swiss cheese (or Gruyere cheese) Choose high-quality cheese for best results.
  • 1 envelope onion soup mix (about 3 tablespoons) Enhances the onion flavor profile.
  • 2.5 cups French-fried onions (about 1 6-ounce package) Gives a delightful crunch to the top layer.
