- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and onion until the beef is no longer pink. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in the rice, French onion soup, beef broth, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a simmer and cook for about 5 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
- Top with shredded cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For extra flavor, sauté the onions until caramelized before adding the meat. Let the casserole rest slightly before serving; this helps everything set together.
