Method
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Butter a 13×9-inch baking pan and set aside.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar until dissolved and smooth. Pour into prepared pan and spread evenly.
- Add bread cubes on top of the sugar-butter layer in an even layer.
- In a bowl, whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Pour evenly over bread, ensuring all pieces are saturated.
- Sprinkle remaining 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 tablespoon brown sugar over the top.
- Bake 25–30 minutes, until the top is golden brown and set.
- Remove, dust with powdered sugar if desired, and serve warm.
Notes
Use stale bread for best results. Adjust spices according to taste.
