  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Creates the first layer of the crispy coating; can be replaced with gluten-free flour.

  • 2 large eggs Help the coating stick; substitute with an egg replacement if desired.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Offers an aromatic depth; can be swapped with onion powder.
  • 1 teaspoon paprika Adds a warm flavor; smoked paprika provides a delightful twist.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Essential for flavor; experiment with various spices.
  • as needed Oil for frying Any high-smoke-point oil, like canola or avocado.

Method

Preparation
  1. Heat oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. In another bowl, beat the eggs.
  4. Place breadcrumbs in a third bowl.
  5. Form cheese into small balls.
  6. Dip each ball in the flour mixture, then in the egg, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
  7. Fry the cheese bites until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes, ensuring they don’t crowd the pan.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels before serving hot.

Notes

Avoid overcrowding the pan to prevent uneven frying. Check oil temperature with a thermometer; around 350°F is ideal. Let the cheese bites rest for a minute before serving—they’ll firm up slightly.
