  • 14 oz Firm tofu, pressed and cubed Choose firm tofu for the best frying results.
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch A light coating helps achieve that coveted crispy texture.
  • 1/4 cup Oil for frying Use a neutral oil with a high smoke point, like vegetable or canola oil.
For the base
  • 2 cups Cooked brown rice or quinoa This serves as the wholesome base, rich in fiber and nutrients.
For the vegetables
  • 1 cup Steamed broccoli Offers a lovely crunch and is packed with vitamins.
  • 1 cup Sliced bell peppers They add color and natural sweetness.

For flavoring

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture; this step is crucial for achieving a crispier fry.
  2. Lightly coat the cubed tofu with cornstarch, ensuring all sides are covered.
Cooking
  1. In a frying pan, heat oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Carefully add tofu cubes to the hot oil and fry until golden and crispy on each side, typically 3–4 minutes.
Assembling
  1. In a bowl, layer your cooked brown rice or quinoa as the base.
  2. Top your rice/quinoa base with the fried tofu.
  3. Add steamed broccoli, sliced bell peppers, and julienned carrots on top.
  4. Generously drizzle with soy sauce and sesame oil.
  5. Garnish with sliced green onions and sprinkle sesame seeds, if desired.
