Preparation
- In a microwave-safe mug, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in the microwave for about 20 seconds. Make sure it doesn’t bubble over.
- Once melted, add 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon of brown sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix well until combined.
- Stir in 1 egg yolk until the mixture is fully combined.
- Add 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt. Stir until no dry ingredients remain.
- If desired, fold in 2 tablespoons of chocolate chips.
Cooking
- Microwave the mug for about 30–40 seconds, or until the brownie is set on the edges but still soft in the center. Keep an eye on it to avoid overcooking!
- Allow the brownie to cool slightly before enjoying, as it will be very hot.
Notes
Serve warm, optionally topped with ice cream or whipped cream. Best enjoyed fresh, but can be covered and stored for up to a day.
