- In a medium saucepan or pot, melt butter or ghee over medium heat.
- Add the diced onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes or until softened.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute, or until fragrant.
Cooking
- Add turmeric powder and stir to combine.
- Mix in the basmati rice and stir to combine. Cook for about 1 minute or until lightly toasted.
- Add chicken stock, salt, and pepper. Mix well and bring to a boil.
- Once boiling, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes or until water is absorbed.
- Remove from heat and let sit for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
Serving
- Drizzle finished rice with lemon juice and garnish with chopped parsley or cilantro.
