Ingredients
  

For the pie filling
  • 1 uncooked pie crust 1 uncooked pie crust Can be store-bought or homemade
  • 1/2 cup butter (melted)
  • 1 1/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (divided) Use good quality for best flavor
  • 1/2 cup flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs (beaten)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla Use pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans Can substitute with walnuts
  • 3/4 cup flaked coconut

Preparation
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place uncooked pie crust in pie tin.
  2. In a small bowl, microwave butter until completely melted. Add 1 cup of the chocolate chips and stir until smooth.
  3. In a separate bowl, stir together flour and sugars. Slowly add the chocolate/butter mixture and stir until blended.
  4. Add eggs, one at a time, and vanilla. Fold in pecans, coconut, and remaining 1/4 cup chocolate chips.
  5. Pour the mixture into the unbaked pie crust. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the top is set—don't overbake!
  6. Allow to cool before serving. Optional: top with whipped topping, toasted coconut, and chocolate shavings or dust with a little cocoa powder.

Notes

Use high-quality ingredients for the best results. Avoid overbaking to prevent a dry filling. Allow the pie to chill in the fridge for a firmer texture.
