Preparation
- In a medium bowl, combine the grated garlic, ginger, and horseradish. Add the turmeric, apple cider vinegar, oil, and salt. Stir until a fragrant paste forms and set aside.
- Pour 8 cups of water into a large pot and bring it to a gentle boil over medium-high heat. Once steaming, lower the heat to maintain a simmer.
- In a small bowl, whisk ½ cup of hot water with the miso paste until smooth and lump-free. Stir the miso mixture into the bowl with your flavor base until well combined.
- Turn off the heat under the pot of hot water. Slowly pour the miso mixture into the hot water while whisking continuously. Add the fresh lemon juice and zest, stirring until incorporated. Avoid boiling after adding miso and lemon to preserve delicate nutrients and probiotics.
Serving
- Ladle the golden broth into mugs or bowls. Garnish with sliced scallions or a sprinkle of turmeric. Serve immediately while warm.
Notes
To store, cool completely before transferring to an airtight container. Store in the refrigerator for up to five days. Can be frozen in portions for easy future servings.
