Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups Greek yogurt Full-fat yogurt adds creaminess and protein. Low-fat can work, but it may alter taste slightly.
  • 1.5 cups self-rising flour Essential for achieving the right texture. Can substitute with all-purpose flour and baking powder.
  • 1 scoop unflavored or vanilla protein powder Whey isolate enhances the protein profile without overwhelming flavors; plant-based options also work.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Adds depth; fresh minced garlic can also be used for a more intense flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning Blend of dried herbs that provides classic Italian flavor.
Filling & Topping Ingredients
  • 1 cup part-skim mozzarella cheese Shredded for perfect melting; freshly shredded takes flavors up a notch.
  • 0.5 cup turkey pepperoni Lower fat but flavorful. Can substitute with regular pepperoni or diced vegetables.
  • 0.25 cup marinara sauce Opt for low-sugar brands to keep it healthier.
  • 1 tablespoon butter Melted for brushing tops; olive oil works as an alternative.
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder Optional, elevates savory flavor that complements the pepperoni.
  • 1 tablespoon Parmesan cheese Freshly grated for best flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley Chopped for a pop of color and freshness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix Greek yogurt, self-rising flour, protein powder, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 2-3 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick (approximately 12x8 inches).
  5. Spread marinara sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a ½-inch border around the edges.
  6. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese and chopped turkey pepperoni over the sauce.
  7. Starting from the long side, roll the dough up tightly like a jelly roll, maintaining tension throughout.
  8. Cut the roll into 8-10 equal pieces with a sharp knife.
  9. Place the cut side up on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Baking
  1. Mix melted butter and garlic powder in a small bowl and brush generously over the tops of the rolls.
  2. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  3. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley. Serve warm.

Notes

Serve with additional marinara sauce for dipping. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days.
