Homemade Garlic Bread

Ingredients
  

  • 1 loaf Italian or French bread
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/8 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1/2 cup mozzarella cheese (optional)
  • to taste extra parsley or chives, for garnish

Equipment

  • Baking sheet lined with parchment or foil
  • Mixing bowl for garlic butter
  • spreader or knife for applying butter

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment or foil.
  2. Slice bread in half lengthwise and place cut-side up on the sheet.
  3. In a bowl, mix softened butter, garlic, parsley, and salt.
  4. Spread mixture evenly on bread. Add cheese now if using.
  5. Bake for 10–15 mins until golden. Add cheese in final 2 mins if not already added.
  6. Cool slightly, slice, and serve warm with your favorite meal.

Notes

To make ahead, prep garlic butter up to 24 hours early. Store leftover slices wrapped in foil for up to 2 days at room temp, or freeze prepped halves for up to 3 months.
