Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef, onion, and garlic; cook until the beef is browned.
- Stir in marinara sauce and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
Assembly
- In a bowl, mix ricotta cheese, egg, oregano, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Spread a layer of meat sauce in the bottom of a baking dish. Layer 3 noodles, half the ricotta mixture, a third of the mozzarella, and another layer of meat sauce. Repeat these layers, finishing with noodles and the remaining meat sauce.
- Top with the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Baking
- Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the cheese is bubbly.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
Avoid overcooking noodles to prevent a mushy lasagna. Don't skip the resting period to let flavors meld.
