Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 3 cups Bread flour or all-purpose flour Creates a sturdy base with a satisfying texture.
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher salt Enhances overall flavor and strengthens the dough.
  • 1 packet Instant yeast Functions as a leavening agent, helping the dough rise.
  • 1 cup Lukewarm water Activates the yeast and hydrates the flour for the right consistency.

Method

Phase 1 – Prep
  1. Whisk Dry Ingredients. In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and instant yeast.
  2. Add Water. Pour in the lukewarm water to the dry mixture.
  3. Mix Ingredients. Use a rubber spatula to combine until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Coat with Oil. Drizzle a little oil over the dough and rub it to coat.
  5. Cover and Rise. Cover the bowl with a damp tea towel or plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm spot for 1 to 1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
  6. Stretch and Fold (optional). If time allows, perform stretches and folds for added strength after the first 30 minutes of rising.
Phase 2 – Cook
  1. Preheat Oven. If baking immediately, place a Baking Steel or pizza stone in the oven and preheat to 550°F.
  2. Prepare Work Surface. Generously flour your work surface before working with the dough.
  3. Divide Dough. Use a bench scraper to cut the dough into four equal portions.
  4. Shape Balls. With floured hands, roll each piece into a ball, pinching underneath to create a smooth surface.
  5. Option for Refrigeration. If not using immediately, place dough balls in a storage container, cover, and refrigerate.
  6. Rest Dough. Let shaped dough sit for 30 to 60 minutes before working again.
Phase 3 – Serve
  1. Shape Dough Rounds. Handle the dough minimally, shaping it into 10 to 12-inch rounds.
  2. Prepare to Bake. Transfer the dough onto a parchment-lined pizza peel and drizzle with oil if desired.
  3. Add Toppings. Top with your choice of sauce and toppings.
  4. Bake Pizza. Shimmy the pizza into the oven and bake for about 5 minutes until blistered.
  5. Serve. Remove from the oven, slice, and enjoy!

Notes

For best results, let the dough rise in a warm area and don’t rush the resting time. You can also customize the dough with herbs and spices for added flavor.
