  • 1/3 cup Honey maple syrup works in a pinch
  • 1/3 cup Soy Sauce low-sodium for less salt
  • 3 cloves Garlic freshly minced or garlic powder as alternative
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger freshly grated or ground ginger as substitute
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil avocado oil is a healthy substitute
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch for thickening the sauce; arrowroot powder is an alternative
  • 1/4 teaspoon Black Pepper omit for milder flavor
  • 2 stalks Green Onions for garnish; parsley as an alternative

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  2. Cut chicken into bite-sized pieces and season with black pepper.
Cooking
  1. In a pan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add chicken to the pan and cook until browned.
  3. Pour the honey mixture over the chicken and let it simmer until the sauce thickens.
  4. Mix cornstarch with water and add to the sauce for extra thickness if needed.
Serving
  1. Garnish with sliced green onions before serving.

Notes

Marinate the chicken in the honey mixture for at least 30 minutes to enhance the flavors. Serve your Honey Chicken with a sprinkle of sesame seeds for added texture. If storing leftovers, keep in an airtight container for up to three days.
