Ingredients

For the Marinade
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce Or gluten-free tamari for a gluten-free option
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar Adds sweetness to balance the savory flavors
  • 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger Provides warmth and aromatic kick
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Infuses robust flavor
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil Adds a nutty taste
Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound beef, thinly sliced Use flank or sirloin for best results
  • 2 cups rice, uncooked Serves as the base for the dish
  • 2 stalks green onions, chopped For garnish and fresh texture

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, ginger, garlic, and sesame oil to create a flavorful marinade.
  2. Thinly slice the beef and mix it into the marinade, ensuring it’s well coated. Let it sit for around 30 minutes.
  3. Cook rice according to package instructions so it’s ready for serving.
Cooking
  1. In a skillet, warm a bit of oil over medium-high heat until it begins to shimmer.
  2. Add the marinated beef to the pan and cook for about 3-5 minutes, stirring frequently until it’s browned and cooked through.
  3. Once the rice is ready, scoop it into bowls as the base for your beef.
  4. Generously pile the stir-fried beef on top of the rice, allowing the juices to drizzle down.
  5. Finish with chopped green onions for a fresh touch and serve while warm.

Notes

Ensure beef is thinly sliced for optimal flavor absorption. High heat during stir-frying creates a rich caramelization. Customize with toppings like vegetables or spicy sauces.
