Ingredients

Chicken and Seasoning
  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces Thighs can be used for added flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano Italian Seasoning can be a good substitute.
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil Fresh basil elevates the dish if available.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped Cilantro can be used as an alternative.
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt Table salt can also work, but adjust quantity.
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper White pepper is a milder substitute.
Cooking Ingredients
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter Olive oil can replace it for a healthier option.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Pre-minced garlic can be used in a pinch.
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice Bottled lemon juice works in a tight spot, but fresh is best.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, blend dried oregano, dried basil, chopped fresh parsley, kosher salt, and black pepper.
  2. Add the chicken pieces and toss thoroughly to ensure even coating.
Cooking
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add half of the unsalted butter.
  2. Arrange chicken pieces in a single layer and cook for 8 to 10 minutes, turning once, until surfaces are golden and meat is nearly cooked through.
  3. Add the remainder of the butter to the pan. Once melted, blend in minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until aromatic.
  4. Pour the fresh lemon juice over the chicken, stirring to coat evenly.
  5. Remove from heat and serve immediately while hot and fragrant.

Notes

Common mistakes include not marinating the chicken, overcooking it, and skipping fresh herbs. Pro tips: Use a meat thermometer to check for doneness and squeeze additional lemon juice before serving.
