Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound broccoli Use fresh florets for best texture; frozen can work if fresh is unavailable.
  • 4 tablespoons butter Adds richness; substitute with olive oil for a lighter option.
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced) Fresh garlic is essential for depth of flavor; garlic powder can be used in a pinch.
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese Yields cheesy satisfaction; nutritional yeast can be a dairy-free alternative.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (to taste) Adjust according to taste and dietary needs.
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper (to taste) Freshly cracked black pepper gives a spicier profile; white pepper could be a milder substitute.

Method

Preparation
  1. Add 2 cups of water to a large saucepan on the stovetop. Add salt and bring the water to a boil.
  2. Add in the broccoli and allow it to cook for 2-4 minutes, just until tender. Drain the water and set the broccoli aside.
Cooking
  1. In the same saucepan, melt the butter and sauté the minced garlic for a minute or two, stirring constantly to avoid burning.
  2. Add in the broccoli and toss it well to coat in the butter and garlic mixture.
  3. Top with parmesan and toss again until the cheese slightly melts.
  4. Taste and adjust with additional salt and pepper as desired.
Serving
  1. Serve the garlic parmesan broccoli as a side dish with your favorite steak or main course for an enchanting presentation.

Notes

Common mistakes to avoid include overcooking the broccoli, forgetting to drain it thoroughly, and not allowing the garlic to sauté long enough. For added flavor, consider a squeeze of lemon juice, red pepper flakes, or toasted nuts.
