  • 1 lb lean ground beef Offers protein and hearty texture.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil Helps cook the veggies and beef.
  • 2 tbsp taco seasoning Infuses the beef with bold flavors.
  • 2 pieces frozen pizza crusts Provides crispness and convenience.
  • 1 can black seasoned refried beans Contributes creaminess.
  • 3/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese Melts beautifully to bind toppings.
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican cheddar cheese blend Adds rich, cheesy flavor.
  • 1 medium Roma tomato Adds freshness and color.
  • 1/4 cup fresh cilantro Garnishing herb for brightness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and prepare the sheet pans with parchment paper or a Silpat.
  2. In a large skillet, combine onion and ground beef with olive oil if necessary, cooking until beef is browned and onions are soft, about 5 to 6 minutes.
  3. Stir in taco seasoning until the beef and onion are well combined and flavorful. Remove the skillet from heat.
  4. Place the frozen pizza crusts on the prepared sheet pans.
  5. Evenly distribute the refried beans on each crust, leaving about a one-inch margin along the edges.
  6. Spoon the cooked beef and onion mixture evenly over the beans on both crusts.
  7. Sprinkle each crust with 3/4 cup of mozzarella cheese and 1 cup of cheddar cheese, ensuring even coverage.
  8. Bake for approximately 12 minutes or until cheese is melted and crust is to your preference.
  9. Remove from oven and top with diced tomato and fresh cilantro before serving.
  10. Best served hot right out of the oven.

Notes

For a crispier crust, bake the crusts for a few minutes before adding toppings. Customize your pizza with different cheeses or include jalapeños for added spice. Allow pizza to rest for a couple of minutes after baking for easier slicing.
